In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Dilhvyn, member for Swansea, brought forward a motion for the disestablishment of the State churches in Wales. A division was taken, with the .result that the motion was negatived by 241 votes to 229. Speaking on the subject, Sir William Vernon Harcourt stated that he concurred in the motion in the abstract, but the whole question was so interwoven with the standing of the English Church that it was impossible to deal with them separately.
