THE MAUNGAKAWA QUARTZ REEFS.

It is most gratifying to be able to announce that the specimens of the quartz found by Mr C. Brunskill on his property at Maungakawa, have been pronounced _by experts to be of very excellent quality. These samples wore taken by Mr Soutter, of the firm of Messrs Wells and Soutter, of Cambridge, to Waioronßomai, and were submitted to Mr Adams, the battery manager, for inspection. That gentleman, together with other experts, has declared the stone equal to any found at Te Aroha or on th« West Coast. Mr Adams expressed himself qaito willing to thoroughly prospect the locality in which tho newly-discovered reefs are situated, and to bring mmc experienced miners with him. Mr Rhodes, the assayer, also offers to test any amalgam that may be produced free of cost in order to arrive at a practical test of the auriferous value of the quartz. This looks very hopeful, and for tne sake of the future of Cambridge we trust there will be sufficient public spirit amongst its residents to take energetic steps in a matter that may have a most important influence upon its progress. As we mentioned before, the reefs are situated on the direct line of gold-bearing formation, which has been followed from Te Aroha, and there appears no reason to doubt the existence of payable gold underlying the strata in the near vicinity of Cambridge.
