The first series of the Colonial wool auctions closed to-day. 240,000 bales have been sold, and 46,000 held over for next auctions. The prices show an all-round decline. Greasy w ools are generally about a halfpenny to a penny below last sales, inferior sorts being about a penny lower. Fleeces show a decline of a halfpenny to a penny, while scoured wools have dropped quite a penny. Cross-bred are also cheaper, five sorts having declined about a penny and coarse wools a halfpenny per lb.
