London, February 10. There was a considerable amount of excitement in the city and the southern suburbs this afternoon, when it was rumoured that a hostile mob was marching in from Greenwich and Deptford. The rumour proved correct, but the majority of the shops were cloned, and hundreds of extra policemen were stationed at numerous points, wherever groups of roughs congregated. The ovents of the last tew days have given rise to a very general feeling of uneasiness among the residents in the metropolitan districts, and special precautions are being adopted by the authorities to order.
preserve London, February 11. The rumours which gained currency yesterday afternoon that a mob was marching from Deptford proved baseless. The night passed quietly. Small gatherings took place at various points, but were easily, duperaed by the police. The excitement was heightened and anxiety felt, as a thick fog set in towards the evening.
