NARROW ESCAPE FROM A RAILWAY ACCIDENT. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday.
Anothkk accident occurred on theWolling-ton-Musterton Railway, on Saturday afternoun. The pasnengor train was being pushed up the Ktrep incline on the Featherstone side of the Rimutakn, and had just panned through the tunnel when the gripping apparatus of the engine gave way, and the train began to run down hill. The breaks were applied and fortunately held the train, bringing it up in the tunnel. The lady passengers became greatly excited, several fainting and screaming, the (Jnrknem adding to their fright. Most of the passengers jumped nut, some sustaining Blight injuries. If the train had moved after the passengers jumped out Home of them would have been crushed to death.
