INVOLUNTARY BENEVOLENCE.
When John Wilkes was member for Aylesbury, and at the same time a magistrate there, ho appropriated some fines which had been levied on the inhabitants towards repairing a bridge, on which he placed a tablet with the inscription, "This bridge was repaired by the involuntary contributions of the inhabiUotft A.P. ."
