At the meeting of the Waikato Coal and Shipping Company the report expressed regiet that the directors were unable to present a. more favourable balance-sheet for the past year. The balance to debit, £G,li>3, \\\\3 principally caused by loss on the Thomas llus-.ell, £2,290, and 10-^s on realising stocks taken over at the formation of the company, H1,750, together amounting to £4,047. The directois do not sec thenway to much improvement in the affairs of the company beyond reducing treneral expenses about £1,400.
