EXTRAORDINARY DISCOVERY.

Recently a workman employed at tbe West London District; sohoojh, near Staines, was engaged in repairing tbe roof of the ball, when ho discovered n man in tho space between it and the ceiling. He called Mr Stokes, the engineer, to whom tbe man stated that he had liv»d there for several years, lying concealed during the day, and at night prowling about the rooms * t search of food, a quantity of which was found near, as well aa a dark lantern. Tbe loft was ?n a dreadful state, the man having made no effort to keep it clean, and the floor was in a mont disgusting condition. A hole had been made so that he could see what wai go' tg on in the dining hall beneath, and access to the attio was gained by an iron ladder fixed to the outside wall. The man, on being arrested, gave the name of William Roberts. He was taken by Inspector Whade before Sir John Gibbons, county magistrate, who remanded him for further enquiries.
