TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. CAMBRIDGE.

Therk was ft special meeting of the congregation of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, last Wednesday evening, which was well attended. The Rev. \V . Evans presided, and opened the meeting with the usual prayer. The minutes of the previous meeting having been confirmed, the secretary, Mr R. W. Sargent, read the report of the committee which had been appointed to ascertain the general feeling of the people regarding the proposed resignation of the minister. Ballot papers had been issued, and on their return it was found that the concensus of opinion was largely in favour of retaining the minister, 115 having voted for the withdrawal of his resignation, 32 were to the contrary, and three were informal. The Chairman said that under the circumstances shown by the report, and there being a decided feeling in the church that he should remain, he would accept the position, and take no further steps in the direction he had been contemplating. We may add that Mr Evans resolution not to leave the district has been received with much gratification, not only by the greater part of his owu people, but ahioby the general public, by whom he is held in great respect and esteem. The meeting then considered the new hymn-book called Church Praise, and it was resolved to adopt it. the book now in use being retained until the congregation are familiar with the change.
