PROPOSED SWISS CHEESE AND CONDENSED MILK FACTORY.

Is respect of industries Waikato has undoubtly made strides within the past few years, and the ball having been once set rolling the imrch of progress still continues, and promises betore long to lift this district from the depression which for a long time has pervaded it. To the many industries which the past two years hnve given us in Waikato another one is about to ba added, but, judging fiom what we have learned, this latest addition is to be the outcome of individual enterprise. A few weeks ago a Swiss gentleman on hearing that the Cambridge Cheese Factory Company were in quest of a manager offered his services, at the same time pointing out the department of cheese making and dairy produce with which he was familiar and upon which principle he proposed working the factory. He proposed making cheese on the Swiss piiuciple and also entering upon the making of condensed milk, the demand for winch is now very great in foreign markets. This offer, however, was not entertained by the Cambridge Company. This gentleman has now it appears come to terms with Mr Gane (of Clark and Gane) and will proceed at once to erect a factory on Mr Gane's propeity, Fukeriiuu, where he will commence the manufacture of Swiss cheese and preserved milk on his own account. He expects to be able to give 5d a gallon for his milk, the supply of which will bo drawn from the neighbouring settlers.
