CHRISTCHURCH, Friday.
Mr A. G. Howhnd gave his usual celebration of the 4th of July, at which the Major, the United States Consular Agent, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce were present. The criminal calender for next Monday contains the names of ten persons charged, three with larceny, three with forgery, and one each with receiving, horse-stealing, arson, and attempted suicide, A servant girl named Fanny Bonnington has been arrested, charged with infanticide, her newly born infant having been found dead in a water closet. The^ girl has Leen removed to the hospital. An inquest will be held.
