THE CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION.

TO THE KIHTOII. Sir, — It appears to me very desirable that some of the directors of the Noith New Zealand Farmers' Co-opeiative Society were requested to resign, and some better business men were put in their place, as I know that a farmer, a near neighbour of mine, had ordered some wheat on the 17th of June last, to be delivered at a certain place on the 30th of the same month, at 32 noon. On the 23rd June he wrote a letter re same, and receiving no answer to his letter he sent hia team as per agreement, went to the place, and found his order had not arrived. Said team was two days away, thereby entailing a serious loss on him, as he resides over 20 miles from the place of appointment. Now, I ask any rightminded man if this is a proper way to transact business. It appears to me instead of the society being a help to farmers it is a hindrance, as he could have obtained wheat he wanted from several businesses he knows with half the trouble. They certainly would ha\ c informed him if his order would not have been to hand at the time and place specified, and would have saved him groat loss of time, as well as the extra expense. — I am, &c, Settler,

TO THK EDITOR. Sib, — What are the directors and eecietary of the N.N.Z.F.O.A. doing, and where are they ? Letters are written, orders given, but neither are the letters answered nor the orders executed. Suiely the secretary ought at any rate to acknowledge the receipt of any money. I am afmul there ia something wrong about the way of management.— l dm, \V ell- Wisher.

TO THB KDIfOH. Sir,— lt is a great pity that the writer of the letter signed '"Shareholder" in youi last did not work out the pioblem of the "tinker" lie talks about— lf he had done so I think he would have written a little more sensibly about the above subject. He must have read tbe papers without bis specs., or lie would have seen what appeared in yoiu 8 of the 28th that brandies were desirable in all tbe townships were there was any likelihood of doing a fair business, as the profit would soon recoup the cost of such branches. — I am, &c, Fairplay.
