A re'nuhicabli; case is repoited to-day. Og Tuesday niu'lit a son of Major Pa I ton, of Plope, found a respectably diessed man lying in an nnfic(jut']ite(l load. The man being insensible was taken home by Pdlton and put to bed. llostoiati\ es somewhat, but not sufficiently to speak, beingadmniisteiud, the man reeo\eiedand next morning the Major diseo\cicd that the man had a veiy bad wound on the side of the head, which had been diossed with plaistei. The injuied man now lies at the Hospital in a ciitical condition. His skull appears to have been fractured. The mau is belie\ed to ha\e armed fioni either Wellington or AVanganui, but there is nothing to identify him.
