RE SID ENT MA GIS TRA TE'S COURT, CAMBRIDGE.
Friday.— (Before Mr H. W. Northcroft, R.M.) civil cases. Evans and Ellis v. Paora Karetai.— Claim, £7 17s 3d ; judgment debt. — An order was made for payment in four months, or in default a month's imprisonment. Reid v. Arama Karaka. — Claim, £19 9s. — Judgment for the plaintiff and costs. (Before the R.M. and Col. Lyon.) Reid v. Makaine. — Claim, £42 15s ; judgment summons. — An order was made for payment. WINDOW-BREAKING BY BOTS. Two boys, named George Robertson and David Trigg, were charged by the police with destroying the windows and doors of the house lately occupied by Mr Geo. Hally, but which had been bought by the Government far railway purposes. Mr J. P. Campbell appeared for the defendants, and acked the court to exercise cammary jurisdiction in the matter. John Hally gave evidence as to the state in which the house had been left. David Carnachan gave evidence to the effect that the house had been in fair order up to a fortnight ago, but that these boy 3 had broken the glass in the windows and doors. Constable Dillon deposed to having heard the noise of the window breaking, and on going up to ascertain the cause of the noise found the accused doing the damage alleged, and arrested them. After some evidence for the defence the accused were put in the box and examined for the defence, and afterwards closely questioned by the bench. son admitted having broken about twelve, and as.- is ted in pulling down the mantelpiece. Accused were ordered to pay a fine of £2 103 each, also compensation to the amount of 20d each to the parties aggrieved, and coats amounting to 18s each.
