LATEST NEWS FROM TE AROHA .
Bt a telegram received last night from our own correspondent, it is estimated that there are not more than thirty men now unemployed, and a number of these will find employment in connection with the new battery works. It is stated that several men are working in the New Find for eight shillings, and he has heard threats that steps are to be taken by the " strikers " to prevent them working. Eight or nizie contract 1* have been let in various mines recently, and all contractors are paying their men nine shillings a-day.
Important Find of Gold. In the New Find theie is a grand &how of gold to-day, in the face of drive on the No. 1, or Big Reef, Arizona level. The reef is fully five feot thick, showing gold throughout. This U 140 feet below wheie gold is found in the surface working above, and adds considerably to the value of the mine, and als>o adds permanence to the field. The Inverness are expecting to cut the reef in the low level every day. Very likely-looking quartz is being met with in the Eurek.i. They are opening out on the intermediate level, and getting a little gold.
