Auckland, Last Night. Mysterious 1 Disappearance. A youth named Joseph Sheriff, cmployed by Mr Se.im.m at the Lake, has mysteriously disappeared from his home. He went away two years beforeabout the same timb, but was foyn^ after two clays' absence.
Letter from Captain Ashby. Captain Ashby, writing from London, under date February 22, sayS>: —" I have been more than busy with passengers all this year. I never remember having so many inquiries at this season of the year. I huA'e advised and booked large, numbeis'for Aucklaud, and' many of>' them have large sum& of money to stait a fresh lite with. I see by one ot Kmr newspapers you mentioned I recommend Diuicdni. This must have been a mispi mt or mistake on your part, as I always advise those I think will make good colonists to go to A uckl.md. lam pleased to inform you that Mr S. Morrin is much better, and talks of leaving for San Francisco by the mail of May .3th. I cannot s-iy the same of Judge jj aiming. He is nob long for this wot Id."
The Governor's Visit. The Governor arrives on Wednesday afternocu, and will be accorded a public welcome. The City Council will read an address at the 1 ail way platfoim.
