The Stratford correspondent of the Haiccra Star writes that a party of surveyors, under Jsh" Carkeek, started from Stratford on Saturday, to make a flying survey of the country as far as the watershed of the Wanganui river, and then down the valley of the Mokau. The objeqt }s tQ see jf the country is practicable tor the mala liuo of railway to Waikato.
