WELLINGTON Last Night. The long continuous drought is being severely ielt, and rain is much wanted. The weather still keeps hot and sultry, ami with but little appearance of any change. The water inspector is taking actions against persons found wasting water. "• The announcement that Bundoora has been scratched for the. Wellington Cup, lias been the theme of conversation today, and much surprise is felt. It is also mentioned that Mason and Vallauce have purchased Louie, the present favorite for the Cup.
KAIKOUJRA, Last Night. It is imported that a native named Kateria, living at Mango-warn, eight miles from here, murdered his wife to-day.
NELSON, Last Night. It is reported that a case of murder has occurred at Happy Valley, Wakapuaka. A man named Fuller had laid an information against one Thompson for threatening to "do for him." This morning Fuller was found shot. No more particulars are to hand.
