BOROUGH OF HAMILTON. Nomination of Candidates.
The nomination of Candidates to fill the vacancy in the council caused by the resignation Mr Kennedy Kill, took place yesterday, at noon, at the chambers, Hamilton West. The following were the candidates :—: — Archibald Scott, nominated by Messrs William Jones and E. McGarrigle. Richard Gwynne, nominated by Messrs S. McLernon, and W. M. Hay. Charles Revel Johnson, nominated by Mcssis R. Peat and N. R. Cox. George Robsox, nominated by Messrs Robt. Harris and James Coombes. Willtam Wood, nominated by Messrs James Mai tin and F. Crawford. The nominations of Messrs Scott and Gwynue were subsequently withdrawn, leaving Messrs Johnson, Robson, and Wood as candidates. The poll will be taken on Wednesday next, the 24th inst., at the Council Chambers, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
