Wreck of the Meg Merrilies. Auckland, Last Night.
The brigantine Meg Marrilies has been driven ashore at Fiji, and is totally wrecked. She was insured in the jSTew Zealand Office for £2000, and re-insured in other offices for £i 250. ' Steam to England. The Chamber of Commerce has telegraphed to Government and the Auckland members urging Auckland's claims to increased representation on the Committee to couMder the question of steam communication with England. TheJWade Smuggling Case. The Wade smuggling case le-hearing occupied all day at the Police Court. Maurice Kelly wps keenly cross-examined by Mr Hesketh, but he declined to answer a number of questions on the ground that ho might criminate himself. The case is not concluded.
