Questions. Replying to questions put it was stated that after the Estimates were passed last year no reduction in rank or pay besides the 10 per cent, had taken place amongst sergeants and constables in the police force. — In consequence of irregularities in postal communication land owners in some cases had not received proper notice of the sitting of' Appeal Courts, but it was understood that the shortcoming had been specially provided for. , ,Any particular case not so provided for if mentioned would be looked into. « New Bills. The following 'bills were introduced and read a first time :—Auctioneers,: — Auctioneers, Appraisers, and Agents' (Mr lieyin), and Protection of Crops (Mr Saunders). The Financial Pr&posals- i Mr Saunders moved " That no financial proposals will be acceptable to this House that are not based on the strict adaptation of. the annual expenditure' of' the colony to its annual revenue without any assistanoe from borrowed money, and that dp not aid ,in the complete separation of coionial'and local finance, and 1 the 'entire emancipation of the latter from the control or interference 'of tins House." LAST NIGHT'S SITTING. On the House meeting, Sir Geo. Grey moved the postponement of the other orders of the day to allow the Law Practitioners Bill to come on. It was carried by 43 to 13. ' ! ' A long discussion then ensued on the motion to go into committee on the bill. The discussion in committee is proceeding.
