It is reported that Mi\ McCovern, of Waimate, has discovered a gold-bearing quartz reeef in the vicinity! of the Waiharoanga estate, Waimate district. Two specimens brought ihto Waimate Bhowed specks on the face and in the body. The precise locality is not yet divulged.
, At an inquest held on the body' of an infant found yesterday, the jury returned a verdict teat there was no evidence to show whether it wasborn alive. Kathleen McCarthy,admitted being the mother. She was arrested and remanded on a charge of concealment of birth. ;, t • j
