i The Minister of Public Works has left for the South to day on business connected with his department. Mr Hoskings, bootmaker, an old resident of Wellington, was found dead in his bed at Carterton this morning. At a meeting of the Presbyterian Assembly this morning the Rev. ' Mr. Maonicol gave notice that he would move in connction with the foreign mission report, "That the Assembly take into consideration the spiritual necessities of the Presbyterian residents of Fiji." The Assembly expressed satisfaction at finding that Otago and Southland have agreed to co- operate with this church in the Maori mission. It was agreed to appoint a committee to confer with the Synod of Otago on the subject of union and to report to next Assembly.
