"PUBLIC NOTIFICATION Whereas Kauri and other Timber and Underwood upon the Crown Lands of the Provincial District of Auckland are, without lawful authority, being, cut, felled, and removed, and negligently, or maliciously being destroyed by firej and whereas, without suoh authority, Kauri Gum is being dug and taken away from the said Crown Lands, and it, is expedient to at once stop such unauthorised acts, and to punish persons committing the same, — the public are hereby warned not to burn, damage, cut, fell, or remote Timber of any kind whatsoever on or from the said public lands, nor therefrom to dig and -take away Kauri Gum; and all persons so offending will be rigorously prosecuted. Chairmen and Members of tha various local Governing Bodies thronghoilt the jaid Proyinoial District are hereby requested to aid and assist the Government in every manner possible in the endeavour fco suppress aU such unauthorised acts as aforesaid.
