London*, March 8. — Consols unchanged at ooj New Zealand 5 per cent. 10-40 loan has advanxed to jo2J ex dtv. ; the •; per cent. 1880 loan remains at no. The markets for Austrati.m and New Zealand breadstuff;, and Australian t.illow are without quotable change. At the wool sale to-d.i) , 8800 bales v, ere offered, and more demand was experienced, at a slijrht impro\cmcnt in prices. A number of bales were withdrawn from sale, whirh to dafeis 14,000, out of 158,900 catalogued since the opening. The Lo.in and Mercantile Agenc\ Company report, under d.itc oi London, March 7 : — The wool competition is increasing .md the market is firmer. The wheat market is firm, Adelaide and Victorian being worth 51s per 4061b5.
The British Orajv M'.rkkt. — London, Feb. i< : The Mark Laur Express, in the review of the Hritish grane trnde for the past week says .—. — " Damage from floods is becoming' alarming, and deliveries ha\e been in bad condition on account of the weather. Dry samples of home-groivn arc scarce, and obtained the fullest rates. For the rest, the trade is gradually weakening. There t/«is a better demand for flour at last week's reduction, but buj crs operate slowly and cautiously. Foreign flour is in slow demanp, but with signs of improvement should r<ites moderate. There was a r.ithcr brisker business at .1 decline on Monday, but American advice* restricted this, holders profiering to wait. Spot and prospective supplies are ample, consequently it matters little how American surplus is used. Malting barley is weaker, and all sorts arc cheapei. Fine samples are still scarce, but barley generally 'n difficult to sell. _ Foreign barley is alow, with a dragging trade in favor of buyers. Oats are improved through the country. Foregn oats are also improved. In m.Lire, there w.is a very limited spot busineis, at Monday's rates. The sales ot Englash whcit during the past week were 36,090, at 43s 7d, against 36,161 quarters at the same price the correspondent week last year. Imports into the United Kingdom during the week ending February 6, were i,227530cwt. of wheat, and 337,i70ewt. of flour."
