Nelson, Tuesday. Match No. 16. — Rifle Company's Challenge match. To be fired for by representatives of volunteer companies in New Zealand. Eleven teams entered for this event. The scores were : — Wanganui EJflee, 449 ; Waimea, 435 ; Nelson City, No. 1, 432. The tie between the Thames Navals and ,the Alexandra Cavalry for the second place was fired off this afternoon, when the latter beat their opponents by two points, the cavalry making 101, and the Navals 99. i The fiwfc team of Wellington Navals secured the first place, wsth a total of 457 pointy Thames Navuls and Alexandra Cavalry made a tie for second place with 434, and •will have to fire off. , Match Ho. 14.— (Cabbine Company's Tkophy).— 2oo,soo, and 600 yards, Seven shots at each range. To be competed for only by company representatives. 4. The trophy to be the property of the corps to which the winner belongs. 5. Ties to be decided by firing shot for shot ,_at the GOQyds. range. ' ' The ttiatoh was won by Hoskins, Taranaki Rifles, with 69 ; Paynter second, with 68 ; Purnell, Wanganm, third, 67. Match No. 15 (Cabbixe), Company's Tkopiiy. — This waa won by Hood, of the ■Nelson Artillery, with 76 ; Laird, (Alexandra Cavalry) 2nd, with 75 ; Armstrong (Thames Navals), 3rd, with 73. 1 For the Consolation Match, the Council has not yet fixed the prize list. Last Night. ' In' the Twelfth Match, the North Island carbine team alone fired. Dixon ' '(Wellington), was first, with 76 points ; Xrtndtfong (Thames), second, 74 points ; Thomas, third. The ' Consolation Match was won by Sharl»nd (Nelson), who takes £5 ; Wilson (Otago), second, who receives £2; and Marshall (Otago), third, who takes £1. The prizes were distributed this afterlaqqn.by Mrs Suter, wife of the Bishop.
