LAWN TENNIS MATCH. Auckland v. Hamilton.

This match commenced yesterday at a quarter to five. Messrs DargaviUe and Birley, the Auckland representatives won the to'S, and had the choice of courts, their opponents taking innings. Th« game was very one-bided all through, as out ot the twenty-two games played Hamilton only landed four, as shown by the goores appended. Thus, three sets only had to be played, as it was agreed to play the best out of five sets. Mr Dargaville's play was that of an old racquet player, all in the wrist, and the way he placed the balls was very effective. Mr Birley was all there at the net, and scored several deuces in a very knowing way. Mr Whitaker was rather out of his usual form, and Mr Laiohley though he tried to retrieve the day, in conjunction with his partner, found that the Auckianders were too many for them. The services were weak on both sides, and nearly every one was played :—: — AUCKt-AND.
