His tsire is the celebrated horse Marquis (imported), who gained 17 first and 5 second prizes in Victoria ; was bought, by K. Miller, Dunedin. In Otago, he gained 21 first and 3 second prizes. Maiqui-. ih sire to more prize-taking sires than any other horse South of the line. Marquis' sire, old Prince Charlie, well-known in Victoria to be tho best horse ever imported. Maggie, dam of Black Champion, yarned 4 fir.st and 2 .second prizes nt Taieii, aDd 2 first and 1 Becond at Tokf>miiriro. Maggie is by old Black Champion, who gained, before leaving Scotland, 8 firht and 2 second prizes; when 3 years old, one £«50 premium ; and ■when o yeais old. when landed in Victoria in I»G2, one £'o0 premium; gained fir.st piizo at Bullarat, and, sumo year, first at Smenton. He was sold to »o to New ZcaUud for £525, and gained firht prize, 1863 iind 18G4, at Taieii. Hercules is a bay horse, 8 years old, and stands 15J hands high, combines the best of blood with good bone and immense power, and has proved himt>elf a good horse on the turf. At the Canterbury meeting in 1876, won the Grand Stand Handicap, 1 mile, in 1 mm. 50 sees., carrying 8 st. 2 lbs., beating 6 others. In the same year won the Hawkes Bay Stakes, 2 miles, in 4 mins. 4i sees. , beating Fishhook and the Maori Hercules will travel on and after Ist October, calling at the undermentioned places : — Mondays— Leave Cambridge, calling at Ohaupo and Alexandra. Tuesdays— Te Awamutu andKihikihi Wednesdays—Kiliikihi Thursdays— Will call at Rotorangion his return to Mr W. K. Carter's, Cambridge, where he remains the rest of the week. Farms visited on the road.
