Hamilton Cricket Club.

The annual general meeting 1 of the members of this Club wan held at the Royal Hotel on Saturday evening. Not* withstanding the fact that there were no less than three other meetings proceeding 1 at the name time there was a good attendance of members, tht chair being occupied by Mr J. W. H. Wood. The minutes of the last annual meeting having been read and confirmed, the Chairman said they would first proceed to the election of office bearers, after which new members would be elected and any gaucral business to be brought before them discussed and transacted. The meeting then proceeded to the eleotion of office bearers with the following result:— President, F. A. Whitaker, Esq., M.H.R. ; Vice-President, James Hume, Esq.; Captain, James Wood, E*q., Match Committee, Messrs Wood, Gleeson; and Forrest. The following gentlemen were then elected members of the Club : Messrs Wallnutt, wnr., Grime*, Aayman, Kirk, Graham, Biake, Wardell, Ormerod, Agnew, H. Ewen, Knox, Maacham, and Pearson (2). After discussion it was arranged that the pitch should be turfed by Mr Vialou at a cost of £12 10s, it having been decided to pay £16 for tho use of the ground. In view otviis large outlay it was suggested that the public should b3 ask to subscribe. Mr Coleman thought it was time that the whole ground was sown down in grass if they were to have % sward to play on during the coming season. This was concurred in by several members, and The Chairman said he had spoken to Mr Cumming about the advisability of sinking a weU on the reserve to afford a supply of water in the event of the season turning out an unfavorable one for grass. Mr Forrest suggested the sowing of bonedust under the turf for the pitch. The Chairman thought the suggestion a good one, and promised to give a bag of bonedust in order that it might be carried out. The subject of fencing the pitch then came on for discussion, it being stated that the necessary barb wire had been provided at a cost of £3 15s. Mr Steele said he had spoken to a carpenter on the matter who had offered to provide the wooden portion of a movable fence to be constructed out of kauri for the sum of £5 10s. It was agreed to accept the offer, leaving it with the Secretary to arrange the details as to dimensions of timber, etc. Mr Rhodes, hon. sec. of the Cambridge Cricket Club, attended for the purpose of arranging matters with the Hamilton Club in regard to matches for the coming season, including the County match. After discussing the matter, it was resolved to play the first match against Cambridge on an early date in November, and it was decided to hold the first practice on Saturday next, on the unploughed portion of Sydney Square.
