ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION OF THE CZAR.
ST. PETERSBURG, April 15. Beatrumin TJrrisokomlofiyan employee of the Finance Department, fired four shots at the Emperor, who escaped untouched. There is great enthusiasm m St. Petersburg. The assassin has been arresfed. LONDON, April 17. A relieving force started for Port Ekowe with gatling gaua and a
rocket column. The troops are m good health. Colonel Pearson signalled from Ekowe that 200 of the garrison were disabled and only 400 effective. It is stated that 35,000 Zulus await the arrival of the relieving force 20,000 Zulus attacked Colonel Flood's camp near Luneberg. Severe fighting ensued, lasting four hours, and the enemy were repulsed. The British loss consisted of7officei'3 and 30 men.
