Sib,—Will you allow me space for a, few remarks concerning the late visit of the Thames Volunteers. I was in conversation with several of them, and they said they were greatly surprised to see such a fine body of men as we had in our Waikato Cavalry, and that they never thought we could turn out such numbers as wo did, at the review, on Monday. But, sir, they also said that they were greatly surprised to think that we had not got an infantry corps in Hamilton. I also heard some of them remark that they should leave the Thames, to come to reside in Hamilton, and, as soon as they did so, they should set about organising a corps- But, why should not some «f our Hamilton young men call a meeting as soon as possible, and not wait for our Thames friends to set them in motion.—l am, &c, A. F. Hamilton East, April 14. j

. •♦- Sib,—On reading Father Golden's last letter, I felt very much tempted to reply to two or three points, but, as I have expressed my conviction that the correspondence had extended ordinary limits, I did refrain from transgressing further. Besides, Father Golden having, as it were, opened the debate, is, I think, entitled to the final reply. It, therefore, only remains for me now to grasp the proffered hand in a friendly parting, which I do most cordially, and leave the final settlement of the Education Question to our representatives and their constituents.—l am, &c, It. W. Hammond.
