PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
POURAKINO RIDING. Mr W. B. Hopcrol't presided over a meeting of the Pourakino' Riding Patriotic Committee on Monday, April 22nd. The main business of the meeting was to finalise arrangements for a Bring and Buy Sale which is to be held in the Gummies Bush Hall on die ai'te - noon and evening of Thursday, l ay 2nd. ; Reports from the authorised canvassers of th© various districts which make up the Pourakino Riding were submitted to the meeting and promised well for the forthcoming sale. Mention was made of canvassing the area from Pourakino bridge to Gramty. Mr Fraser offering to include this section in hia district if it had not a'ready heen canvassed. From the promises received bv the collectors it was thought, advisable to prepare the following stalls: Farm, produce, live stock, meat, garden produce, cakes, sweets and needlework. The catering for afternoon tea and supper was left in the hands of thei ladies of the committee.
Various competitions of an entertaining nature were also to be provided for. A suggestion to conclude the sale with a dance was discussed, and it was agreed that as the hall would he £o filled with stalls and produce, the clearing of if would be likely to take up too much time. The feeling of tl r meeting was that a dance would 1 o more enjoyed at a later date.
