On Wednesday evening tho sta.ff at the local Post Office met to bid farewell to the ■ Postmaster. Mr C W. Carmody, who has left Ilivertoii on transfer to Methven, South Canterbury. In making a presentation to Mr Carmody of a shaving set on behalf of the- sf-aff Mr J. Fitzpatrick'mentioned the pleas- . •■'•. times that they had enjoyed in tho office under Mr Carmody's supervision and wished him and the staff to whom he was going the same happy experiences. The annual meeting of the Riverton •Football Club will be held to-morrow evening.

A meeting of the Mothers' Union was held at the Vicarage yesterday afternoon, those present being: Mesdames J. N. Goodman, S. Haslemore, F. Thomson, 0. Kerr, G. H. Webb, C. J. R. Inder, and the secretary, Mrs H.,J. Walden. After a short talk by tlie Vicar, the Rev. J. N. Goodman, and a discussion by those present, afternoon tea was served. It was intimated that the Diocesan president, Mrs F. H. Hudson, would be present at the next meeting.

Although he accepted the same amount as the other soldiers, his father receiving the presentation on his behalf, his time, up to the present, has been too fully occupied to allow him to express" his thanks, either for the gift or for the' good wishes.
