COLAC BAY NOTES

The large Drill Hall was rillvd to capacity last week when four soldiers -from the district, who were given a farewell. ■>•

The guests of the evening were Privates A. Kelland, G. Belsham, . R. Wixon, and Alex McNaughton who was not' present. Several, soldiers from other parts were also present- and . appeared on the stage witli the local men.- ' The building was tastefully, decorated for the occasion with flags, greenerv and flowers, while'coloured streamers of red white and "blue hanging from the centre of the roof.to the sides of the hall added greatly to the effect. The function took the form of a social and dance, and went with' a good swing right throughout, the evening. Mr D. Wadsworth carried o«t tho duties of M.C. in his usual efficient maimer, while Messrs Alex McKay (violin) and J. Wjxg.ii (piano') supplied the music.

Songs during the evening wero given by Miss G. Pollard, Mrs J. Stick, Mr M. West (Bluff) and Mr A. Driver, while the Wixon family gave a partsong and Miss S. Pearce a. piano solo. Extras were played by Mrs Burtenshaw and Mrs Burton.
