PRAISE FOR MR SAVAGE.

PRESS COMMENT IN LONDON.

GOVERNMENT WARNED OF FUTURE PROBLEMS.

"New Zealand Labour largely owes its success to the deliberate, confident and boad-minded spirit in which it had governed from the start. It knew what it wanted and was able to get down to work with a well-planned iush. Its ' tolerance, understanding, moderation and good humour have dispelled fears that Labour might decrease individual freedom and encourage national disunity." The News Chronicle says: "Mr Savage's Buecess has heartened progressives throughout the world. The ■swing of the pendulum has been checked by prosperity and the vigour and tompetence of a Government which is iot like the, British Labour Ministry ■vhich faltered when ft should have itood firm, and without delay nave .tarried out social legislation to cement ts hold on the loyalty of the mass of lie people." Admitting that "nobody wants to kill .-ianta Clans at Christmas time," The I'tmes in an editorial expresses the opinion that it is not yet proved that -he critics of the New Zealand Governnent's financial policy were wrong. "The test will come when the upvards movement, now apparently at its ;)eak, is followed by the inevitable relation.
