MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting held on Thursday was attended by Mr J. A. C. Mackenzie (chairman), Messrs A. D. Angus, C. W. Matthewson, H. C. Johnstone and C. Carmody. An apology was received for the absence of Mr J. A. Martin. —Correspondence.— The Postal Department further wrote in reference to the provision of a public • call office at The Rocks. Every aspect of the question was given careful consideration before .the decision was made that the establishment of such a facility was not warranted. The public call office can be used for local calls only, and in the case under notice would average 15s per week only throughout the year, and the cost involved would therefore not be warranted. The Department’s viewpoint would now he fully understood and appreciated. The Chairman said the establishment, of a box would certainly increase the revenue. People would not use the present office on accouut of the opening fee.' It was decided to interview the Telegraph Engineer on his next visit to Riverton.
