$ MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Council was held on Friday, when the following councillors were present: —Messrs H. F' Blatch (chairman), W. J. A. McGregor, -W. B. Hopcroft, G. Stroud F. J, Linscptt, Jno Hor-rell, W T. James and James H, Smith. —Correspondence. — W; A. Dutton, Colac, asked if the Council can push the road over 7 feei. from, its present position, a s his store is flush with the road and it is dangerous for children leaving his shop.— Left to Member and Engineer to report. •L, J Brown. District Engineer, N.Z. Railways*, advised that l he provision of a level crossing at 19 miles 7G chains bad been approved.—Received.

G Carran, Riverton, asked that road to his section be attended to. — To be attended to. W. J. Erskine, Papatotara, drew attention to the.state of the ditch on Waimoutu road at back of Sections 5 6 and 7, Blk 3.—Referred to Central Committee.

S.'E. Power Board asked that thedamage to 'approaches at Mouowai bridge be repaired urgently.— Council accepts no liability. W. J. Lawrence, Clifden, applied to be allowed to plough along roadside between Gardner's and Milne's. — Tjoft to Member and Engineer. The Southland Education Board enclosed a letter from the Tuatapere School Committee drawing attention to the need of a ditch to prevent flooding of the school grounds. — Left t 0 Engineer. R. C. McKenzie, Tuatapere, drew attention to the bad state of the main Papatotara road.—Left to Member and Engineer. Mrs E. Baker Clifden, inquired if Council will lease their sections on Lillbum "road, and at what rental.— Left to Engineer. Hon Adam Hamilton, M.P.. euclosed letter from. Minister of Marine re removal of lagging from traction ensines and i.n which it is notified that it wi!f he necessary to have this attended to. —Member to be thanked for informa tion.

Public Works Department intimated, that if any provision is to be made on Public Works estimates thi s year for road* or bridges it be attended to not. later than 10th July, 1933. Received.
