The miners employed in the Nightcaps Coal Company's mines were successful in -.their law case against their employers asking that their wages be made up to the minimum of 18/- per clay as agreed upon in the new award,' when, through not fault of their 1 own, they could not earn that amount while at work.

One of our young athletes, Mir M. Dixon, won the big event at Wiuton on St. Patrick's Day. lie .showed such promise at Tuatapcre on New Year's Day, when he ran second, that his friends were sanguine of his success at Winton. The social event of the week was the 1.0.0. F. Ball, which took place in the Coronation Hall on Friday night. Friends from far and near attended to show their last tribute of respect to one. who was held'i in the highest esteem.
