PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE.
The! monthly meeting of the Riverton District "Progressive League, .held 1 on Friday evening, was attended' by • a fair number of members, Mir W. S. Hunter being in the chair. The Society for the promotion of Health of Women and Children, • Invercargill, (wrote stating that the Inver car gill branch of the Plunket Society is considering the appointment of a second nurse, part at whose time might be spent in visiting country districts.) Tlie Invercargill Committee, weTe desirous- of knowing what districts would be willing to avail themselves of the nurse's visit. Of course, each district visited would bo expected to contribute towards the l payment of a nurse's salary. Tha ■.iniount .would) depend on the number of districts willing to enter into the ■scheme, and the frequency of the nurse's visits. Mia& Patrick, director. of Plunkett training, will probably address meetings' wherever possible when new centres are being organised. —Received. % Steps- are 'being taken to" l'orm a' branch in Riverton:'. / The Secretary of the , Wyndham School Committee forwarded £1 7s to the League's funds.—A donation. of £3 3/- was also Teceiv y ed from the Grocers' Picnic Committee, Invercargill, and! £-1 Is from the Gore School ' Committee.
The Secretary of ,the' Southland Electric Power Board wrote stating , that the Board • appreciated the resolution of the League.'
