RIVERTON SALEYARDS COY.

An extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the above) held in the Town Hall on Saturday, was attended by about a dozen shareholders. Mr E. J. Stevens, President, presided, and briefly outlined the object of the meeting. Since the inception or the yards the Railway Department had received £o Jer annum for the lease of ground, and £1 per annum had been collected in fees by the Government. Owing to the fact that only a few sales had been held a halfyear’s rent was now owing to the. Railway Department. Mr Jno. Nuttall said he would like to see the yards carried on, and had no doubt that subscriptions could Be gathered to pay off the liabilities. Personally speaking, he had always said his stock in the yard, and had been satisfied with the' prices received. He moved that canvassers be appointed to sec what support would be forthcoming. This was seconded by Mr W. T. McGill, and carried, \the latter gentleman, intimating his intention of subscribing £l. On the motion of Mr Armstrong, seconded by Mr Rodger, the following were appointed collectors: Mosers ,Jno. Nuttall, C. Molloy, Jno. McNaug,hton, It. Davis and E. J. Stevens.

Mr Rodger moved that if sufficient support was not forthcoming the Directors be empowered to dispose of the yards.—Seconded by Mr Molloy, and carried. Mr McGill intimated that he would sell his stock at the saleyards nextmonth.

A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
