OHAI RAILWAY BOARD.

The monthly meeting, held in the secretary’s office' on Friday, was attended by Messrs A. . Rodger (chairman , W. J. A. McGregor, W. Excell, D. D. McDonald, D. Jardine, W. Crawford, and Jas. King. Mr A. W. Rodger was re-appointed Chairman, of the Board for the ensuing year.

The Chairman’s salary was, fixed at £2OO per annum. The Chairman was granted leave of absence during bis visit to England and Mr W. J. A. McGregor was appointed acting-Chairman during Ins absence.

Messrs Smith and Co 1 ., Linton Coal Company, asked that the line he continued 30 chains past the present terminus.—Mr Smith waited) on. the Board in connection with the matter, and offered ® guarantee of 25 tons of coal per clay if the construction was gone on with. His company would construct the line if the Board supplied the sleepers and rails and, refunded cost of construction in railage.—lt was decided that the request could not be granted owing to- presentcommitments.

The provision of a jigger for the maintenance gang was left in the hands of the Manager. The Manager reported as follows; — The coal trains have commenced running. A temporary, water siding will be erected at, Bnrndale Coal Company’s 1 property. He Recommended that the FA engine, he repaired;. The runaway siding at Mossbank was notadequate, and he suggested that- it- be extended. —It was decided to- have the engine repaired by Messrs Johnstone and Sons, ami that the siding at Mossbank be lengthened, the Manager to 1 have the work done.

J. R. Low, District Engineer N.Z.R., formed the Board that trucks would now be rim on the line, but that the Board would be responsible for any damage to same.—Received. Jas. Welsh applied for payment for Section 1, Block 11, Wairio village.— Referred' to solicitors.

J. R. Low, District Engineer N.Z.R., asked particulars of the Board’s requirements at Wairio station.—Chairman to explain the position to Mr Low.

Electric Power Board asked to hire some rails from the Board.—To be informed that the rails cannot be spared, as the Board has arranged to use all in hand.

Accounts amounting tot £2603 Os 8d were passed, for payment.
