Chinamen employed in the market gardens at Auckland have caught the striking habit, and for the third time recently have downed hoes in Auckland. ' The local papers state that a voluble party of Chinamen arrived in town from Avondale last week, made their way to- the promise-! of a weilknown Chinese firm, and explained that they wanted more pay—hours, it is understood, were not brought into the discussion. An agreement was arrived at, and under it the men, it is stated, are to draw £2 to £2 03 a week, with free quarters and food.
