NIGHTCAPS SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

■ The monthly meeting of the above, held on AVednesday last, was .attended by Messrs J. H. Grant (Chairman), ,D. Cameron, Jas. Thomson, and D. Sinclair (.Secretary). Departmental correspondence from the Education Board was received. The headmaster reported: “I have to report that the work in school is • progressing satisfactorily, and, now that Mr Brown has commenced duty, I hope there will be no more changes in the staff. The old furniture has been removed from my room, .and more suitable desks and forms take its place. The Architect suggested using the old material as firewood. I notice the hat pegs are nearly all broken, and at present dozen are required. A plank is broken in the play-shed, and it would be - wise to have it attended to at once in case of an accident. The planking over the well is far from secure, and .should receive attention. The dividing fence between the school and residence is in a, sad state of disrepair,'and I would like the Committee to make .application to have a board fence erected. As agriculture is part of 'the school curriculum I would like to confer with your Committee re fencing of a small portion, of the glebe for an experimental plot. Any money raised for that purpose carries a £ for £ subsidy. I understand that you informed the architect that the table in my room was infected with the borer ; please jog his memory again. A newcopper grate and two asbpaus are required for the residence. Ipwould like to have vour hearty co-operation _ in these matters, and trust our relations will be happy on all matters affecting • the welfare of the school.”—lt wats decided to apply to the Board for a new -fence and the repairs required at the school and residence, The Secretary was ascertain from the Board the nature and terras of lease

by which the . vacant sections across the street are held, it being considered that they would be more suitable for agricultural experiments, as the present playing area is too small without being further reduced. The attendance report for toe month was very good, only on© fanny, living at a distance being little u-reo-ular. The number on the roll is 134; average attendance for the month 127.3; percentage df attendance 95.7. „ Accounts amounting to- Lie were passed for payment. The secretary reported having effected repairs to waste pipe at the. sink in the residence, —Action endorsed.
