As a sequel to the drowning of jris sheep, John Wad land, an Exeter farmer, was summoned under the food control regulations for wasting foodstuffs by failing to take steps! for the preservation of his flock, and fined £SO and costs. •‘A very inartistic fight,” was Mr Justice Chapman’s comment during the hearing of a case in the Supreme Court, Auckland, upon an assault by a powerfully built farmer, nearly 14 stone in weight, and over 6ft in height upon a much smaller man, whom; he struck on the jaw. His honour said that although it was not his business to advise in such a matter, if he had been tire little fellow he would be inclined to get in under the elbow.
