A MODEL TOWNSHIP.
SOUTH OF MASTERTON. The Wellington Farmers’ Meat Company has purchased an • area of thirty acres of land on the Masterton side of the'Waingawa bridge, upon which toi establish a model township for employees of the firm. The directors of the firm have entrusted Mr S. Sinclair, the supervisor of the company’s building scheme, with the task of laying out the township on the lines of English garden cities. It is proposed to cut up the land -which is bounded by throe roads, into quarter-acre sections, with streets converging on to a. central recreation ground of five acres. The latter will contain a lawn tenuis court, aiu cricket and football grounds, and will be planted with flowers, shrubs and trees. . It is also proposed to make provision for a band rotunda. ihc township when completed, will contain residences, with from five _to six robins each. The laud is being eui voyed immediately for reading purposes.
