WESTERN DISTRICT RUGBY SUB-UNION.
The annual meeting was held at Riverton on Saturday. In the unavoidable absence of the President (Mr F. C. Mills) Mr A. Stock occupied the chair. There were also present D. McKay and E. D. Bone, representing Orepuki Club. L. Brown and A. Fisher (Otautau) F. Boyle and A. •Acker (Waiau Rovers) G. McNie (Nightcaps) A. Stock and L. Foster (Riverton). The following is the report: The past season has been the best for a number of years, there being four clubs entered for the Senior competition, Nightcaps, Otautau, Orepuki and Riverton, the latter being winners of the Western District- Holding, the premiership for the last two seasons they are now the holders of* the Bissel Cup. Two teams entered for the Junior competitions', Otautau ane Riverton, the latter winning; hut it was found out at the close of the _season that Nightcaps were the holders of Todd’s Cup for 1913. Two matches were played between the IV estern District, one with Invercargill Star at Invercargill, Star winning, by nine pints to nil; the other match against Waikiwi at Riverton, resulted in Waikiwi winning by 11 points to 5. The Union is in a strong financial position having a credit of £10“16-6. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—(President, F. C. Mills. Vice Presidents A. Liddle, E. Matheson, A.E. Ward, A. Stock, G. Charlton, J. Horner, F. Boyle, A. Clapp, T. Mclntyre, McKenzie, J. Clisby, C. E. Johnstone, J. T. Brooker, E. A. Trail. Secretary, C. Cassels. Committee, Messrs A. E. Ward, E. Mathieson, J. Brown, Gumming, W. Welsh, EL Bone, A. Ackers, A. Baird, W. Herricks. Referees, W. Hinchcliffe, A. Liddell, A. C. Mills, G- Stevens,- C. Cassells, Henderson, McNee, A. Baird, Corbett, Mclntyre, E .A. Trail. The following were appointed delegates to the Union: D. McDonald, F. O. Mills, and A. E. Ward. The subscription was fixed at £1 for seniors and 10/- for juniors. It was recommended that the first week in May be tke opening day.
