HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER LOAN.

POLL CARRIED. Saturday was a red-letter day throughout Southland, when tai poll was taken for -the purpose cif asking the ratepayers to authorise the raising of a loan for installing hydro-electrio power throughout the province, tho proposal being carried by an overwhelming majority. Out of 16,538 ratepayers entitled to vote 6531 recorded their votes in favour of the scheme to* borrow £1,500,000 and 416 voted against it. There were 13 informal votes. .
