SOUTHLAND STOCK AND PIIODUCB MAPKET, The stock market has remained stationary so far as fat cattle are concerned, there still being little space available. At Wallacetown the majority of the butchers seemed tc have filled their requirements of fat sheep privately, and, although there was a. smaller yarding than, usual, prices remained unaltered. Store cattle are not in great demand with tbo exception of dairy heifers, which are meeting with a good enquiry, anything well-bred selling well. Good, forward-conditioned three to four-year-pld bullocks are also meeting with sir fair demand, but in poor condition is almost unsaleable. Forward - conditioned well-woolled lambs arc slightly firmer in value, as are also well-bred two, four, and sixtooth breeding ewes. Oats.—The market is firm and for heavy Ji Cartons, 5/-, on trucks, has been, paid. Many local merchants, however, consider this price too high. North Island sellers have been offering B Gartens at 5/7, f.0.b., s.i., southern ports, for delivery from April to September, and several purchases have been made at Ibis figure. Tins works out at about 4/9, on trucks, sacks extra, which is less than what is being paid to farmers. Chaff.—Owing to heavy arrivals the Auckland market is reported weaker, and in consequence the local demand is not so strong as it was. Prime old quality is worth ftom £6 ity- t'tf £0

16/-, on trucks! Ryegrass. —The market ia easier, most merchants having now secured fair supplies. Very few growers, how--1 ever, are left with seed on their | hands, so that it is not expected that 1 the wholesale price for dressed seed will come down. Potatoes.—Main digging has not begun, but is close at hand. Meantime sales are of a hand-to-mouth character. Hemip. —The market is quiet, but firm. Good-fair is worth about £3B, on trucks:, and high-fair, £35 10/-.
