Mr and Mrs Thos. Stroud lentertnined a number of friends at ilnnr Vi-sj-dence on Monday evening, 15th Nov., to Celebrate tho coming of age of their youngest son, John, There were about twenty couples -present, and <t vny enjoyable time was spent. GiwaV pre- ! parations had been made for the j guests, and Mr and Mrs Stroud amd family were most assiduous in their attention. Tea and delicious refreshments were served during the evening, and everything went with a merry ewaag. Music was mxpplied by Bgan's band, and was all one could wish for. Songs were given by Messrs Hart Stroud, Egan, and Miss Casey. The ni»ht's entertainment concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne, after Which three ringing cheers wore' given for the Stroud family. The marriage of Mr George O'Connor to Miss Mary Flynn, was'solemnised at St. Peter's Church an Tucsday. The Rev. Father O'Neill oonduotad the ceremony, and the bride was L'ivcn awivy by her father, Mr Janus PI., nu. She was tastelully attired in .ream silu, trimmed with silk insertion and lace, also. wearieig "the. customary \eil and orange blossoms. Miss NVu-a Flynn, sister of the bride,' -attended as bridesmaid. Mr Won, o'Ck.ninor ably supposed the bridegroom ? Alter the ceremony the happy couple repaired, with about forty of their friends, to the All Nations Hotel, wihertltbe w|:|Bding bpoa'kfast iwa9 served, .and many happy speeches made. Mr and Mrs O'Connor kft by motor ear for Invercargill, en route for Jlanmer, where the honeymoon will be spent.
