Waiau Athletic Club
The first annual general meeting of the aboV clubi was held a i Clifden on Saturday evening last, Mr' Wc. Whyte in the cna.r. The report and balancesheet showed the Club to be in funds. . The election of office-bearers for the tn*uing year resulted as follows : Pre- _ Ralph Scott;- Vice-presi-dents : Messrs P. Chamoerlain, T. Cochran, W. Durio, W. Scott, W. Whyte ; starter, Mr J. Moir ; handicap pers, 'Messrs 11. Scott, J. ChamJber laiai, J. Cos-griff, chopping and. Mr Robt. Scott; judge for running and jumping, Mr T. Cochran; for ohoppiug and sawing, Mr A. Mc/Ewan; for putting the sitone a nd wrestling, Mr H. Ackers ; stewards, Messrs F. Bate*, S Gardner, G. Innes, D. Matheson, N. MolTett, Jules Tapper ; hon. sec. and treas. Mr J. Cosgriff. Following is the programme- of ev.nts : lOUyds (maiden), 13S.vds Waiau Handicap, 280yds, hurdles, 440, 880 and mile handicaps, hop step and jump and high jump, three- legged raoe putting the stone, maiden'sawing and maided chop, sawing and chop handicaps and Cumberland wrestling. The sports are to bo held on the Clifden Domain on Wednesday, 26rth January.
